Old is new again! The IBM iSeries/400/i5 is unquestionably the most successful business system to have ever been introduced in a multi-user commercial systems environment.

In an industry where many technologies replace themselves every 12-18 months, the iSeries/400/i5 continues to move forward; integrating the most significant hardware and software technologies available. Such integration is a strength that has been translated into a lower cost of ownership.

IBM has declared their intent that over time, newer technologies will be integrated within the iSeries/400/i5 replacing older technologies, but keeping the process transparent to the end user.

The growing field of new applications has put new demands on both hardware and software, and this trend will continue. As business becomes ever more competitive, technology will need to evolve and refresh itself. The hardware systems required to support such an expanding environment needs to be stable, scalable, and efficient with an excellent price performance ratio.

What happens to used equipment?

Great question! There are three different categories in which we are able to buy, reuse or refuse used technology.

Let me explain.

Retail distribution- this means the used technolgy still has some retail market value. If the used technology is with in a year of it’s birth we are able to purchase the system at a very aggressive price. We have users who are currently looking for this vintage of technology.

Wholesale parts distribution-This means there are some marketable parts or features within the machine but the core of the system has no value; some money is still available to you.

Surplus scrap distribution- This means the technolgy no longer has any value in our marketplace. However, other countries are still using some of the parts and/or features and can be recycled into other products.

Distruction letters and the EPA- We only work with certified technologist who work closely with our government to dispose of scrap technolgy. You will receive a distruction letter verifying the disposal was taken care of properly.
